Leviton Offers Industry's First NAFTA-Compliant GFCI
June 17, 2009
Little Neck, NY - Leviton Manufacturing is the first manufacturer in the industry to offer a NAFTA-compliant GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) that conforms to the provisions of the Buy American Act. Leviton's NAFTA-Compliant SmartLockPRO is available in15 Amp and 20 Amp Commercial Grade and Hospital Grade versions, and offers all the same features of the Company's original SmartLockPRO GFCI. These features combined with SmartLockPRO's NAFTA-Compliant designation make it the ideal choice for installations in government facilities.
The SmartLockPRO GFCIoffers two-stage protection against ground fault shock hazard. The first stage includes a line-load mis-wiring diagnostic that prevents the device from being reset when its line and load terminals are mis-wired. Once properly installed, a green LED indicates the device is energized and confirms proper wiring status. The second stage of protection includes an end-of-service life feature that prevents the device from being reset if it has been compromised for any reason and fails to provide GFCI protection.
The SmartLockPRO GFCI features "surge hardened" electronics that offer superior resistance to surges and overvoltages, provisions for back- and side-wiring, silver alloy contacts for reliable make/break switching and triple-drive combination terminal screws. The face of the device is constructed of thick-walled, impact-resistant thermoplastic to withstand abuse. It is UL-listed, CSA and NOM certified and features Leviton's Two-Year Limited Warranty.
